Unit 29 & Unit 4: Music Video Production - Post Production: Editing + Report Meeting Week 6
Week 6 - 22/11/16 - 9:00 am
(Post Production: Editing)
|
As group we began to organise and reviewing the footage that we filmed on 22/11/16 then started to place the clips as a sequences together on 25/11/16.
We started off by layering the song and adding the main master shots into the layers and then cutting between them and add transitions. Rough Cut Deadline: 5/12/16 We presented the rough cut to the rest of the class to receive both positive and negative feedback, which were that visually the music video worked byt we had to add some effects like on specific beat (flashes). Dani began to colour grading to match and clean up the shots, the main shots were those filmed in the Shisha Bar as this was the look we were going for (Pink/Blue tones) she then created a preset on the shots outside to keep the tone and paste onto the other clips. She altered according to each shot in fine detail. |
Unit 29 & Unit 4: Music Video Production - Production: Progress + Report Meeting Week 5
Week 5 - 14/11/16 - 9:00 am
(Production: Progress)
|
Once the pre-production was completed, we moved on own actually production. We shot in 2 locations on the first day, which the Park and Tate Britain and the weather was rainy so we didn't have any issues with that. However, as we were filming at night time our shots were quite on the dark side but when we start editing we can change the colour. Another location was the Shisha Bar, which we started to film on Friday that week.
The following week we succeeded to film some of the shots on the rooftop. We made few changes to schedule and call sheet, but was amended and planned when we all met so we were all on the same page.
Dani, Dimitar and I took the role of editor at the beginning then Dani continued with our input and opinions as editing is her strength.

Potential locations |
Using a corner to film, against bright backdrop to capture optimum visual style, can place camera a meter away for wide shots. Will use it for the scenes of Him and 3-4 of friends, we will do CU and Tracking of him and his friends in the place. We chose this location as we want to utilise the coloured dim lighting inside to create visuals to match the vibe of his song.

Unit 29 & Unit 4: Music Video Production- Logistics
Personnel roles – Director – Dani , Cinematographer – Dimitar , Producer – Berfin , Sound and editor – Dimitar, Dani and Berfin
In terms of our responsibilities, the Director is responsible for pretty much everything from Casting the actors to choosing locations, create a storyline which makes sense and has a structure and make sure everyone is doing the best they can on set. The cinematographer is responsible for framing the shots and make the whole visual part look beautiful. The cinematographer has the right to choose its own equipment whichever works best to get the desired effect. Producer makes sure the music video becomes possible, from finding the locations needed to getting the proper license for them and make sure you can film there. Casting performers is also something the producer should largely take part in. The sound and edit is really what brings the whole footage together and helps shape it up and fit the puzzle together. As this is a music video, the music is obviously a crucial element and we are planning to add a few foley sfx which will help complement the footage and hopefully give it a fresh approach.
The equipment which we’d use consists of a Sony a7rii and Sony a68, these two cameras are both good in terms of filming particularly the a7rii as it is capable of shooting 4k footage internally as well as shoot 120fps which could be helpful with our music video when slow motion is necessary to convey certain emotion within the shot. In terms of accessories, internal microphones would be the ones we would use and the reason being is because the song would be synced with the visuals later on when the editing process takes part. As the video is chilled rap, the pace of the video would be slower rather than aggressively fast as most rap videos are. Handheld would be our primary choice however tripod shots as well as hopefully be able to use a steadicam could also be thrown in the video which would really help the flow of the footage by having steady and smooth shots which would reflect on the genre and theme of the video.
The resources for the video besides the equipment would be the track itself with the lyrics as well as any mise en scene such as costumes, and any accessories which would add up to the visual side of things.
